Bear with me.

You fly around the world going from place to place, can you lose a day?

iirc clarkson did this in his motorworld where he lost a thursday?

Is this actually possible?

Dunno about actually losing a day, but I heard a nice story once about an old dear who in her twilight years decided to travel a bit.

She figured that the first ime she went round she lost some time and at her time in life couldn't afford it so went the other way round to get it back again!!

Yup, cross the dateline. If you fly from LA to New Zealand, the flight takes 14 hours or so, but in terms of local time if you leave on the Monday at lunchtime, you arrive early hours of Wednesday morning, not Tuesday.

Easy, I went to a PH wedding on Friday and I certainly seemed to lose Saturday.

That's waste time. There's a difference.

Flying over the dateline heading west will lose you most of a day (your local time will jump +23hrs).

Right, here's the plan. First, we go in there and get wrecked, then we eat a pork pie, then we drop a couple of Surmontil-50's each, means we'll miss out on Monday and come up smiling Tuesday morning.

I once lost an entire day.

I had been working on the local commercial radio station presenting the overnight programme, covering for a presenter who was on holiday for two weeks (midnight until 6am) and was working full time (8.30am til 6pm) at the same time.

Every day, I would be at the radio station for 11pm, and leave at around 6.30am - home, shower, breakfast, then off to work.

Get home from day job at 6.30-7pm, quick bite to eat, then off to bed until 10.30pm, then up, shower, bite to eat and off to the radio station again.

At the end of doing this for two weeks, I finished my programme on the Saturday morning at 6am, went home, had a huge fry-up, and off to bed.

Woke up to a ringing phone.

A litte disorientated I looked at the clock which said 9:16, and suddenly panicked, as I was supposed to be meeting someone for a Saturday night out at 9.30.

Whilst rushing round (I never did answer the phone!) hastily trying to get ready, I realised it was daylight outside (this was in November), and it dawned on me that it was 9.16am, Sunday morning......

Went back to bed again after that......

I am technically 2 days older than I should be, and should celebrate my birthday 2 days before I used to.

I've flown LHR-HKG-LAX-LHR twice without flying back the other way to 'reset' the difference.

I gained a day twice, from flying across the Timeline in the Pacific during the HKG-LAX stretch, therefore living the same date twice, on two occasions!

Trippy huh!

Simple. Just come to one of our barbecues. Normally runs from about lunchtime Saturday till lunchtime Sunday on a bank holiday weekend. 45 people lost a day a few weeks ago without the aid of salmonella. I was finding half dead bodies all over the house and garden till about 9pm Monday (and one of them lives next door) and we STILL didn't run out of booze. Some had to stay another night before driving home. Amateurs!

Quite a blast tho.

on the same thing, what happens when you live in say usa (or any place with time zones running through) and you live in 1 time zone but work in another.

you get up at 7.00 leave for work at 8.00 travel 1 hour to work and arrive at 9.00.
but at work it is only 8.00, but you are not due into work till 9.00?
so you leave work at 5.00, and travel 1 hr back home and when you get home it is 5.00.

your body clock must be well messed up.
