l'm thinking about getting a SL55 AMG and a couple of the cars l'm considering have the AMG Performance Package.

What exactly does this comprise of?

What are the extra bits?

Thanks.....

Separate engine oil cooler.
Bigger brakes.
Bigger, two-piece wheels.
Forumla 1 Pace Car style front bumper/spoiler.
300km/h speed limiter (rather than 250).

I think it is worth looking for.

What about over all reliability, any snakes in the grass there?

Not sure when it was first offered, but it was something to do with the SL being used as an F1 Pace car

Look for F1 performance pack, give away visual is extra brake cooling vents in lower front wings/apron a la SL65

for fitting an LSD on car without, have a look here:

http://www.kleemann.dk/Performance/Handling/Differ...

I had one on my SLK 55 and SLK32 without any problems and much better traction,
beware a bit if it is wet ;-)

Good luck :-)

Unfortunately not cheap,
if remember, it was around around CHF 4000- to about nearly 6miglia,not a good
deal, BUT I just WANTED this device.
I cannot inform you about actual prices :-(, but it was worth it as I kept the cars for 2 years (what a loss :-((()for the 32 and for 4 years for the 55, but be aware your
tyres won't last that long, mine were down after ca. 4500-5500 miles on
the rear axle,so you need a good "rubber-dealer", and official AMG dealers
are NOT.Well, we did some Megahoons and other trips, it was big fun, and we forgot about leaving some very black and maybe expensive, marks on lots of roads.
