I a friend of mine here in Germany has one of these for cycling indoors during the winter and for excercise when he wakes up and I want to get one. In German they are called 'bike rollers'. I've seen some that are basiclly a treadmill for a bike and some that lift the rear wheel and put some resistance on the wheel. Can anyone provide some English links on these, also for a reasonably low biudget - I want it for excercise during the winter here and I can't be bothered with gms anymore!
This is the kind of thing I'm looking for http://www.bike24.net/p11795.html without the price tag

I bought one of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Tacx_Satori_High... a couple of weeks ago. Can barely turn the pedals on the highest setting so there's plenty of scope for improvement and it's reasonably quiet (no complaints from neighbours yet). The adjustment lever is a bit crappy and plastic but overall for the money I can't fault it smile

I've got one of these which is great: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/CycleOps_Fluid_2...

The only thing I would say about them is watch where you put them. They need to go somewhere that you don't mind getting dirty. You're riding your bike indoors so unless its brand new you may end up with small amounts of dirt/oil/grease getting on things (particularly carpets)...

and it is rather boring!

I have one in the garage which I might get working again this weekend, but find it hard to do more that 20 mins without getting bored. I suppose now I have got a garage at least I can ride whilst looking at my Westfield!
