Brakes

I know brakes have been done to death on here but im a bit confused. My Calipers say Baer but on the Caliper in the casting is PBR and made in Australia. I thought Baer were American? The discs also say HSV, Id like to replace the discs and would like some help on the disc's. By the way upgrading to AP's isnt an option Im not sure of the size of the disc either. Thanks for any advice.

Yeah, brakes seem to be the universal Bete Noir subject on these vehicles! There is another thread ongoing (a few actually). Your calipers could have come from a GTO at some stage? Can't blame you for not wanting your wallet to be raped by the price of AP's!! Yours look the same as mine.

In fact, as soon as I have my new AP's, I'll get them measured up and find alternative packages, or even look at getting them made?. I'm fed up with being treated as a milch cow by the automotive manufacturers, it's about time they got their come uppance, just like the banks just have. Ha, fking ha.

Thats a stock VXR disc. And what looks like a rebranded VXR caliper. We do the discs if you need them.

had a look yesterday at brake discs - yanks can buy cv8 size front discs for $99 each for their GTO's. Think the going rate in UK is what 2-300 quid each, someones having a laugh somewhere.

£129 to be accurate. Even vauxhall prices are well under £200.

They are. Well fans was referring to GTO discs, which are effectively CV8 discs, NOT the discs shown in the picture.

They are. Well fans was referring to GTO discs, which are effectively CV8 discs, NOT the discs shown in the picture.

It's still all smoke and mirrors by the manufacturers at the end of the day. Disgraceful profiteering if you ask me.

anyone ever heard of 3G brakes i bet they would make some up alot cheaper. I used them alot when i was trading a few years ago. exscellent quality

I found the receipt yesterday for when I was turned over by Vauxhall on my brakes, and the front disks were £361 each PLUS VAT........

Monkfish seem to be the only ones ive found for the £500 mark. Ive been on leave for the last 2 weeks and im a bit short at the mo LOL, will look into when ive won the lottery
