Police on this Forum?
Discussion
I know that it was done a while back but there seem to be a lot more Police contributing to this forum.
Im sure that it would be beneficial to everyone if Police personel (Civilian/Retired or otherwise)introduced themselves on this Forum so we all know who is who........dont you agree?
Edited to add that you could also give a few words on what experience you have etc.
Let me start the ball rolling by saying that ive got nearly 20yrs service, the last 9 in the Area Traffic Unit.
Im on regular patrol mostly in a Car but sometimes on a Motorcycle.

Sorry Tony - good idea!
Well I'm here......
16 years service.
Supervisory Rank for 7 years.
Have worked as Patrol PC and Patrol Sgt for 11 years
2 years in Police Communications and in the grading/prioritisation methodology behind Police response to calls. This included directed remote supervision of serious incidents to ensure compliance with and adherence to procedure - Legal and Force Policy. This was akin to acting as a Force wicketkeeper to make sure we didn't drop ourselves in the sh1t.
2 1/2 years as a Custody Sergeant - so I'm well aware of the issues in that field.
Policed a major International Airport (for a short a time as I could get away with - boring!)
16 years in a nutshell....

Funnily enough, it was only yesterday that I was thinking: wouldn't it be nice if the coppers had a little icon next to their name?
How about:
No thanks - Never have been, never will be a black rat. They have my respect but I don't have their patience.....

Saw a few of these for sale on Ebay...someone is making a lot of money from them.
Stopped a few non Police people with these on their vehicles.......they think that it gives them some sort of immunity.
Truth is that we think that they are taking the p*ss and they dont get any leniancy at all.
Slightly O/T, but inspired by the mention of 'secret handshakes', about 8 years ago my daughter was at that stage of school life when they had 'work experience' for two weeks. She split hers between one week in the 'office' of the equestrian centre where she rode
and one week at Farnham nick. She turned up at the station as arranged and the duty sergeant took her to the canteen for a chat. Almost his first question was, "Why are you here this week, when your school-mates are here next week?" "Oh, my dad knows someone on the force!" she replied. "Who's that?" the sergeant asked. "Detective Chief Superintendent XXXXX." she replied.
Well, her school-mates spent their week at the station, and walking around Farnham with the beat patrol. My daughter spent her week in the Area Car as far away from the nick as it was possible to get her!!!
Streaky
PS - she nearly dropped me in it when she was sitting in the back of a Senator doing 125+ with 'blues and twos' and the observer turned around and said, "I bet you've never been as fast as this before?" Her reply? ... "Oh yes, my dad's got one of these!"

Trafpols are known as Black Rats........and this has been the sign of a Trafpol for a few years now.
Trafpols tend to acknowledge you when they see one on a car/bike and therefore the scroates think that if they wear one then they wont get stopped.......pure fantasy i say.
