Dirty theiving bstards. The bodywork centre for [name removed] fixed a dent in my Freelander door (very well indeed!) but also swiped the mp3 player and associate lead from my glovebox. I thought this sort of brand would be safe, given the "well-to-do" area, but cant trust anyone.

Really want to go and give them some verbal, but I'm taking the car in for service on weds, and there arent other branches nearby. Will make sure I take everything out including floormats and satnav DVD this time.

Report it to the DP. I doubt he'd be all that happy to find out that pilfering is going on. He's got the reputation of the dealers to uphold and word tends to spread fast. Especially if you ignore the name and shame policy wink

Do not stand for this.

I would want to hear any grevience from a customer, no matter how big or small, and if it involved an alledged case of theft such as this, I would move heaven and earth to get to the bottom of it.

Complain to the manager, and do not let it go.

Well I'm going in for a service soon, so I might mention it then. I just bought a cool USB-FM transmitter for the car as replacement and the excitement has weathered my intial rage. I'm a bit too averse to confrontation, and given that the event was over a month ago now (I only just realised) its going to make it harder to argue.

I've got an FM transmitter for my ipod. I can't find a channel where I don't get some interference - very annoying. I will probably go to genuine Land Rover integrated unit soon like I should have in the first instance.

If you didnt spot it was missing for a month can you be certain that it was taken by them?

Thats the issue i'd be faced with. In reality, the fact that the connector lead has gone too is the giveaway. The lead lives in the car; theres no plausible reason why it would ever leave the car. Like if you suddenly noticed that you didnt have floormats anymore.

Hey Euan.

Hows the Fezzer?

Sure it's not in the top drawer of the Service managers desk? Get on the phone asap and find out, otherwise you really don't have a case. They wouldn't have done the bodywork anyhow, they would have subbed it out to a 3rd party. So it'll be those thieving what-sits who would have nicked it.

Hey Gaz, the fezza is mint; hows the sprog? Probably move to email for that chat.

I checked the car in to the attached bodyshop who did the work, and I think it was landrover run. They certainly had all the logos and jumpsuits everywhere.

Started checking the rest of the car for missing items. .... i'm sure I left an apple core wrapped in a tissue in the rear left door compartment! smile

you can deal with this in a non confrontational manner, what I mean is when you take the car in for a service just mention it and say that you can't be 100% sure but you can't see where else it's gone? you don't want to make a big issue of it but thought you'd better mention it just incase it happens to any other customers. I would be very suprised if there not mortified and do everything to reassure you and at least make sure it doesn't happen again.

might be wrong though!!
