Got the Griff out for a drive yesterday after it has sat for a couple of weeks. When I turned the key it made a click and did'nt crank over. The second time it turned over and started up. After an enjoyable 50 mile drive I pulled up on the drive switched off the engine, Put the roof back on then went to restart the engine to put it away and after resetting the immobiliser with the remote as usual and turned the key and nothing! I didn't hear the fuel pump prime and then stop as usual on the first click. The flashing red light on the centre console stayed on. After a couple of attempts of starting it finally went. I've not been able to access the search facility on here due to a technical problem. My car's a 94 500 and I believe it has the Foxguard A/I. Can anyone help?

Hi Craig, I had something similar when my battery started to fail, although I have a meta alarm rather than the Foxguard.
The alarm would re-enable when I tried to start it(I presume due to the votlage/current drop). Finally when the battery completely failed it was after a run (embarrisingly at the petrol station).
Don't have any other useful thoughts at the moment.

I would check your earth points for good clean connection, partiularly the engine to chassis earth which connects to the chassis at the o/side wheel arch. The fact that your solenoid clicked means that power should have been there to turn over the engine, which rules out the immobiliser in that particular instance. If it then started on the second attempt, without a battery charge in between,it rules out a dud/uncharged battery. It all sounds like a poor connection to me

I've not had it on the conditioner recently because i've been using it regularly. The main problem seems to occur after a run, by which time the battery should be charged up.
