Dropped off my Tuscan this morning to Andy at APM automotive [recommended on here]. I bought mine in June this year after drooling over them since 2000!
It has a TVR history, but last major service in Nov 2006 at Peter Smiths at 16400ms. It now has 21.600ms.
Having read through here, and especially the speed six thread, I thought it best to get it checked over and a 12,000m service, which Andy has a very reasonable price for [ hopefully! ]
Car runs great, goes like *'>), but pops too much, especially at low revs, so hopefully he can sort that out quite easily.
I will hopefully collect tomorrow; fingers crossed a clean bill of health.
Whilst there, he had an AJPV8 engine on a stand, that is a compact V8, very impressed with its size, or lack of it, and only 120kgs!
I am missing my car already, is this normal???

cheers

but pops too much
Before I write those immoral lines...

....They all do that, Sir...

...can you define "too much"? One of several useful indicators that the car's fully warmed up and ready to go is the change from rattly top end to exhaust pops and bangs...... biggrin

First thing Andy said to me when i pulled up, "it shouldn’t pop that much"!
Yep i know they pop a bit, but this is a bit like anti lag fitted at times!
Went under a motorway bridge the other day, and i thought the Germans had an 88mm hidden in there, it was that loud!
Hopefully collect today, i’ll let you know what was causing the "anti lag" !

Just spoke to Andy, it appears, my "anti lag" was due to when it was De-catted, some pl--ker connected the Lambda sensors up the wrong way round!
Also, the throttle bodies were well out.
Its nice to know its very healthy now though!

Looking forward to collecting later on, and discussing suspension!!

cheers

Just got my Tuscan back, VERY impressed. The Engine is sooooooooooooo much smoother now, and it pulls from minus revs clean and strong.
Andy has done a great job, highly recommended. It was nice to hear him say, "its a goodun for a early un, very good oil pressure" !
He has persuaded me to go for some Gaz Golds though, here we go!!!

It was very interesting listening to Him, lots of very useful information.

cheers

damn good price! Wish mine was going to be that cheap, pick mine up tomorrow (figures crossed) 1 snapped engine mount and other warn, oil catch tank has stripped thread and also needs new shocks so gone for a set of racing reds. Plus the tappets were miles out. Hope I get change out of £2000 lol
