We've had the lawn re-turfed. Plenty of water and no walking on it for a few weeks and it looks great. However, there are two small patches - almost round - about 12" dia, that are darker than the rest of the grass.
The lawn is a nice, healthy looking green and the two patches are much, much darker.
Lawn has been down for about three months now. Gras has been cut but the two dark patches are still visible...

Are the dark green patches bluish? Its a sign of nitrogen richness. Possible that the soil beneath the turf had a couple of patches of nitrogen enriched soil and the rain that we've had this summer has washed some of it up.
Probably a couple of corpses buried in your garden.Glassman said:

Dog pee?
1. Doesn't that make grass go yellow, or die?2. We don't have a dog.
3. Plenty of foxes.
4. The patches are a much darker green than the rest of the lawn.

The fact that you don't have a dog poses a little bit of a problem vis-a-vis the canine explanation to your mystery! Could other errant hounds be entering your garden? Otherwise it is probably dog pee on the turf before you laid it or some other form of less "natural" Nitrogen enhancement!

its definatley the wrong grass, i laid my lawn 2 years ago and have two large patches of dark grass that grows quicker than the rest, cut it out and replace with the right grass
If it's two circles that the OP is talking about as opposed to strips then I can't see how it could be wrong grass? If it were the whole strip that was different then this would be the obvious explanation - but a couple of circles?
They're called 'fairy rings' (Google that for lots more info) and they're caused by a Fungus. The Fungus growth releases Nitrogen which stimulates grass growth. The fungus spores spread outwards making a circle in the grass which gets bigger and bigger over the years.
You're best bet is to carefully dig out the ring, and replace with fresh turf - but they're notoriously difficult to get rid of.
