We all know that cinemas are a rip-off with their £4 hot dogs and the like but what really grips me is them telling their customers that they can't bring their own snacks and drinks in.

Well big, dangly, warty mis-shapen boll0cks to that.

On the rare occasion I go to the cinema I always stock up on Maltesers at the supermarket beforehand. When they tried this in Australia it was declared an unfair practice.

Poor rant I know but maybe I'm just generally content with my life.

The tickets are bad enough, nearly £7 at our loacal place, big out of town cinema with 15 screens. By the time 2 people go there and get a drink each and a tub of popcorn between you you're looking at £20 just to watch a film and frankly that is far too much.

That was my cunning solution - can't believe two of us managed to come up with the same idea, independently!

When I was a student I used to go duting the week so I could get discounted tickets. Now I'll only go on wednesday with the Orange wednesdays deal. I absolutely refuse to pay £7+ to watch a movie.

As for drinks, snacks etc, I'll sometimes get popcorn as it's made hot there, aside from that, it's all supermarket sweets, drinks etc in my bag. Was once asked if they could look into my bag, but I just said no, and they shouldn't have sold me a ticket if it was going to be a problem.

I took a bottle of wine in to the cinema recently.
It was great.

Best value for me though is the IMAX in Glasgow.
£8 is quite pricey but the experience is well worth it.

Personally I can not understand how people cannot manage a movie without minging snacks anyway.

Frisk me? I wish.

They sometimes insist on searching any bags you have. Fair enough given that idiots will sneak videcameras in. The Australian thing was brought to court (not by me) when the multiplexes racked their prices up again and tried to stop people bringing their own. Blew back in their face somewhat.

I'd rather wait until it's on dvd and watch it at home where I can whack the system up loud, drink booze, eat as much popcorn as I like at 10p a bowl (buy in bulk from the States) and not have to put up with the twittering classes.

If you're not going to use that 10p, can I borrow it?
