Holland to Le Mans

Next year I've got to go to a conference in Amsterdam that finishes on the Thursday before Le Mans. I'm thinking that I might drive to Amsterdam and then drive to Le Mans Thursday afternoon.

Do many Dutch people drive to Le Mans (never seen many Dutch registered cars)? Is there the same sort of convoys etc?

Really want to go if I can.

I did this this year, 10 hours either way. I didn't see any other dutch traffic that looked like it was going that way....but then I was on the back roads once past Kortrijk....

Hull to Zeebruge, then Le Mans is a popular route for those of us from the more northern reaches of the UK. You should be able to hook up with plenty of people heading down that way.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the info. I've had a look at Drinking for Holland http://forum.drinkingforholland.com/ and they have a section without the "freaky-deeky-Dutch" language so I may post on there as I don't want to be billy on mates going to Le Mans as for me the drive is half the fun of it.

Yes, the main core of DfH are indeed Dutch and the group was initially formed to support their own drivers...

They are informally linked to Club Arnage so a lot of the folks you'll see in DfH tshirts are British and/or American as there are good links to the US, especially in relation to Sebring.

On convoying, I think the obsession with going somewhere "together" is quaintly British - a bit like standing in queues!

We ran with a convoy of Dutch BMW's and an 80's 911 Targa for a few miles after getting chatting to them at services. Nice guys and they'd convoy'd accross Holland and did so every year - so hopefully you'll see a few other people doing the same.
