I am going to view a Gallardo today, e-gear, and wonder how people have found them? I know it's likely to be subjective, but would like to see what the concensus is.

My only experience with a paddle box was on the RS6, and to be honest, I hated it - I can only assume that the e-gear is a much different animal.

Also, anyone with direct comparison between the e-gear on the standard car, and the SL?

Cheers, Mark

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for that - should put brain in gear first, eh?

Just back from a test drive in one now, so have some conclusions to ruminate. Safe to say it's nothing like the RS6 box thank god! Had heavy traffic, and it coped very well in auto mode, and then did a few bursts on a dual carriageway - felt a bit snatchy at higher revs changing up, until I remembered to lift off the throttle a touch - quite why I thought it OK to keep planted, I do not know - brain playing tricks I suppose.

Very odd setting off - throttle seemed pretty heavy, combined with a novice driver made for some spectacular slow starts. When I'd warmed up a little, and got used to the pressure required of the right foot, it came alive.

All in all, an enjoyable experience - manual to try tomorrow - should be an interesting comparison.

Cheers, Mark

odd
i've driven six 2007 gallardos and none had what i'd call a "heavy" throttle
a little dead travel at the top, but not physically heavy or inconsistent

Could be the novice in a Gallardo syndrome. The RS4 has a very light throttle - the more I got used to the pressure required on the G, the better it got.

Hopefully the drive tomorrow should give me a decent reference point.

Ta for the pointer though - may well be a reason to stay away from the one today!
