Hi,

I am contemplating selling my Sylva Mojo 2 as I am looking at moving our of parents house and can not see me having the spare ££s to keep a 2nd car on the road.

As the current market is a buyers market what kind of price do you think is a reasonable asking price?

The car:
Sylva Mojo 2
Registered 06
7000 miles
2ltr Zetec
Jenvey Throttle Boddies
Rolling rd 160bhp (graph to prove it)
Lotus Titanium Silver

There are lots of stone chips around the rear wings which is common for any mojo. The interior was rushed and since become tatty and always planned on re-doing the interior. If I do decide to sell, would I get any more money for the car by getting the wings resprayed and re-doing the interior?

So just out of interest what value do people think a Sylva Mojo 2 is worth? I looked in Parkers Price guide but they didnt help smile
Ive always had in my mind it would be worth about £9k but looking at what other kits are up for I now very much doubt that.

Pic of car http://www.everettmail.co.uk/pics/galleries/mojos/...

I can find more pics at a later.

Cheers
Andy

I'm assuming that what you actually need is opinions as to what it might change hands for?

I think that there is a bias (I've no idea why) against mid-engined cars of this type, and although your's is a hi-spec example if it was mine I would be thinking £6000 no offers for a hopefully reasonably quick sale.

Note to self: No, I can't afford another car.

Not necessarily, but I do read quite a few kit car adverts etc and that would be my guess as to an attractive price. Might be completely wrong, though. As usual with kit cars the answer is to not sell it.

I keep scanning the kitcar mag adverts and pistonhead classifieds and haven't seen one go up for sale for a long time. So hence thats why I asked. I was trying to work out if I did sell what money I would have to play with.

Thanks for your input, sorry but I didn't realise values of cars was all based on looks. How stupid of me. Anyway if it really was based on looks i'd be loaded as my car looks great - In my opinion of course.

Hi Andy,
Sorry to hear you're thinking of selling. It's hard to place a value as so few Mojos are up for sale. I'd like to think mine is worth £9k like you but I imagine at present it might be a fair whack less than that, but not as low as £6k I'm sure. Main problem is that your market is small as not everyone likes Mojos... as already proven further up the thread!

It's glaringly obvious is it not? How many suitable RWD doners are filling our scrapyards these days? The era of the dirt cheap and plentiful Mk2 Escort and Sierra are gone. By choosing a mid engined configuration you can use a FWD drivetrain, of which there are millions available for next to nothing.

What about the MX5, S2000, BMW 3 series? All getting cheap / cheapish would all make great alternatives.

Hi Andy
Sorry to see you have to move the old girl on.....

As to a value, right now is probably the worst time to try and sell anything, much less an open top kit car.

If it needs to go now, realistically, I reckon you may be lucky to see £5k tbh.

Possibly even less. If you can hold on till next March, things may be a lot better.

Hope all is well with you.

It gets updated when there is something to write about...

;-)

Unfortunately no track days in 2008 - arrival of baby number 2 and all that...

Last site update was 18th August. You are going via www.mymojo.co.uk? There is an old version of the site on both ntl and pipex servers from previous web providers, just go via the mymojo link to make sure you have the up to date version...

Cheers!

Neil
