OK I'll go away eventually.....
Now I am a self confessed gearbox numbskull (amongst other things)
I could sit and watch a gearbox go around all day long with facination but still not understand how it works.....
So, hopefully, ignoring the fact that the 1st gear (I believe its called the synchro ring, it has the little pyramid shaped teeth) is worn and one tooth appears to be very slightly chipped,
Spinning the gears around in neutral, 1st 2nd 3rd all is quiet but in top, there appears to be a slight(not sure how to describe it but sort of a) grating or rubbing noise and a slight tightness in one small section of a full revolution of the main shaft.
Any ideas, haven't tried to strip anything down any further to look at individual components cos of my ignorance.

Tony - stop being such a miserable ar$e and get the digital camera out
:
Get 'em posted on photobucket and then stick em' up on here. Picture paints a thousand words. The usual suspects will the try and help out I'm sure.
Stick with it - Having trolled around Sye in my Turbodiesel  I would having given my right arm to have been belting around in my hot road Mini. Alas it was in a similar state in the garage to yours needing TLC (it is getting it slowly...
Isle of Skye roads + sunshine (!) + your hot Mini back on the road. Think about it... all worth it in the end

Never fathomed out how to post pics
I don't want to put a dodgy box back even though it worked ok as knowing my luck, it'll throw the towel in the following week.
It is actually sunny up here today - looking after young son - can't fit him into the mini (rear cage, no rear belts, child seat won't fit Monaco's)
Cash flow problem too and a possible big outlay coming up(house move)
Just emptied potty and off outside to chase him, chasing the dog. The fun is never ending.
