Went into Basingstoke today to get fuel and a graphics card from PC World ... was heading along the A30 Winchester Road (which is a posted 40 limit) behind a local "Safety Camera" van when I thought "he's not hanging about" ... so I kept up with him along that stretch of road from the Kempshot Roundabout to the Homebase roundabout and at no point did he drop below 55 and often exceeded 60. So Mr. HX51YDH - you need to practise what you preach!

Similarly for T658HPX - police bike which passed me on the M3 on my way back (no blue lights or sirens). I'd dropped down to 70 because I'd seen a camera van on the flyover on my way up to Basingstoke and he came pootling past me (had been watching him in my mirrors for quite a while) ... again I accelerated up to (more or less) keep pace and at an indicated 85 he was still opening up space on me.

C'mon guys - 85+ on that bit of the M3 isn't a problem (although you can bet that the safety camera I passed on the way up wouldn't have thought so) but 60+mph in a 40 in a safety camera van is taking the p*ss!

Write to the local paper(s) about it and send a complaint to the Scamera people.

Yeah - stop buying stuff at PC World, there are much cheaper places

Edited to say I wasn't aware PC World sold fuel though!

I can understand about the Talivan BUT a Police Bike......thats a sure fire way to get stopped. He was making progress..for what reason we will never know, but rest assured that he will be able to justify it.
Wouldnt you?

Agreed ... and I take pleasure in actually having been banned from both the Basingstoke PC World (because the security guard wouldn't get off the phone to his mate and continued chatting about football rather than disable the security tag on the PDA that I had bought) and from the Hedge End PC World (for taking a photograph in the store).

However when you're desperate for a graphics card just to prove something out then they do have their uses...

I was just interested to see what he would do (if anything) - as long as I wasn't doing anything daft (cutting anyone up or driving aggressively) then I figured that the worst I could realistically get was an FPN as long as I didn't put my foot down too much.
