Maserati GranTurismo MC Corse

The GT gets all racy

Any ideas that the Maserati GranTurismo is a bit soft are about to shattered by this – the MC Corse Concept. The competition model looks like the GT’s evil twin and has been treated to a number of aerodynamic tweaks.

There is a new front bumper and splitter and lower side skirts, along with upgraded suspension and a wider track. The 18x12-inch front and 18x13-inch rear wheels fitted with racing slicks and there are enlarged brake discs with monobloc racing calipers hiding behind.

The car comes complete with a FIA-approved rollcage and has a number of modifications to bring power up to 450bhp. These include a new intake system, competition-spec catalytic converters and a centre-exit exhaust.

Quite like this, makes a nice alternative to the Ferrari and Porsche trackday models, wonder if it will be any good and what it will cost tho

I'm going to guess that this is heading straight for a Porsche Cup type series in which only these cars are allowed with an option on an FIA GT entry if anybody feels like it. It doesn't look like the type of car you can drive to a track, bomb round in & then drive home again.

Wow! Love it, but as it has been said, 450bhp sounds like too little. The AMV8 now has 420bhp in standard guise, what Maseratio should have done was shoehorned the 430 Scuderia's V8 under the bonnet, then you have a true world beater, fast beyond belief but utterly gorgeous.

Dunno, but it's a very big, fat car, and one that I am sure isn't greatly suited to the track.

Exactly, i just don't get it. This is a very very large car - same length as a BMW 7 series.

Its big, heavy, and not overly quick. Its a stunning car, and a very accomplished GT car, but i don't see it as a track car.

I suppose if they've lightened it, caged it, added power, and made it a lot stiffer it would be okay for a one make race series though. But as a track day special, it would get eaten alive.
