Not a common wedge problem perhaps, but I can confirm that a 74 degree thermostat is too cold for autumn/winter, certainly in my wedge. Its been spot on over summer but I've just been for a blast and the temp seems way too low.

Question is, whats the next thermostat up and where can I get a one easily (the 74 stat was from rimmer bros) with the larger valve?

Are you sure your otter switch isn't turning the fans on too early? Mine failed in this way last winter.

The otter switch should be ok as I replaced it recently with one of the same part no. and the fan was cutting in about 90ish degrees. Tonight and past week or so (when weather has suddenly got colder) it only got any way near 90 once I'd been driving slow or stopping at lights around town. As soon as I got on the open roads it was down to 70 ish, if that.

What stat are you running?

I don't know what stat is in my 350i, as I have never had to change it - but my car sits at 80 degrees, never higher (assuming the fans are working - see earlier thread!).

Maybe your stat is stuck open?
