Just got back from 3 months working away and planned on taking the cerb out for a good blast down some country lanes seams it was a nice sunny day.

About 1/2 mile down the road and all of a sudden no more accelerator.
At first i though it was the cable that had snapped, but on investigation it was the whole pedal itself which had broken off! I've never herd of that happening before.
looks to be about a 10mm cast steel bar.

Not sure what had caused it, the cable is fairly free.
Must have just gradualy fatigued until it eventually broke off.

No doubt by time I get it fixed the rain will be here againfrown

Mine did this, I used a pair of mole grips as a temp pedal for a day or two, worked very well!

When you have it replaced it may be worth thinking about all the pedals, having the brakes 'fail' would be far less fun yikes
