Does anybody have a rough idea of cost to connect a property up for gas?

The main pipe is in the road which is approx 30 feet from the front door.

Depnds on access etc. It cost me about £4k to coneect 3 properties that were 20 ft from the main road.

The suppliers are notoriously SLOW - so get the order in now - as they WILL delay your build by months and months.,

It took 10 months for water, gas and electric to connect to my little courtyard.

fkING wrs have cost me £30k in interest - not to mention lost profit by missing the market.

Thanks John, £4k was our estimate but did not take into account the long timeframe. I suppose LPG or Oil (central heating) is an option but would prefer to put the property on mains if possible.

I paid £7k but it was nearly 100 ft. The delay is the big issue and has to be factored in but Gas really is the only option for sale value.

Have just had an additional supply laid on to a property in East London (split a maisonette into 2 flats) at a cost of £1650.

Once we'd paid that, they then informed us, as its on a Red Route, they want a further £700 to connect (blamed that one on the local Council as, being on a RR, the work had to be done on a Sunday) BUT, if we paid immediatley, they would get the gas connected 'in the next couple of days'.

Paid by credit card and 6 weeks later (yesterday) gas was finally connected.

Now just have to wait another week for them to fit the fecking meters banghead

Im getting mains gas fitted in commercial premises. Was told it would take up to 28 for a quote, but they did the survey within 3 days of kicking off the process. I think I just got really lucky so far.... preparing myself for a long winded 3 mths period of LPG deliveries.

If Fulcrum have to carry out the excavations then work on around £100-150 per linear meter. If the work is within your boundary then you can employ a builder to dig the trenches for you. Fulcrum's quote will then reduce dramatically. Your builder will not be able to dig within public spaces without a roadworks licence, though.

The meter is fitted by someone else (like Siemens) and if it is for a commercial property you'll probably have to pay for it. £5-600 is not uncommon.

You'll then need to appoint the supplier.
