and he's doing whats needed... they're all slowly finding the line and the limits, but the real class amongst them get there quicker... Lewis, Massa...Rosberg (!), Kubica, Alonso

Looking at the live timing it seems FM and LH are having a right little battle out there, LH currently 0.041 faster.

Do you not think that the teams have simulators back at base where the drivers do 'virtual' laps so any circuit is not totally alien to them?

Obviously this is not a petfect solution due to bumps, camber and gradients but better than nothing.

think you've answered your own point there.... yep they have a track layout, they probably have laser measured simulations...its better than nothing, but simulation vs reality isn't that close yet...

The question was actually posed to the OP........ who obviously believes the sun shine out of St. Lewis' back side.

But then this is PH, so shouldn't really expect anything else.

But there is not excuse for not knowing which way the next corner is going, and I'm sure that the teams simulations are a little bit more advanced than a £400 console avaliable down the local High Street.

its all about the grip, understanding where it is - and having some. That is why Lewis has done well quickly - he is a huge natural talent

rubbish is relative - i meant not great for helping someone at that level learn a circuit in the way they need to learn it to be at a world class level

According to the commentators on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra during Free Practice 1 the Renault simulator predicted a lap time of 1min 45secs...... what did the top four cars during Free Practice 2 go round in ??

Was it 1min 45.xxx secs?

Coincidence?

As surely to predict a time they would have had to take grip levels into account.

But maybe your right they are rubbish and Pat stuck a finger in the air looked round at Flav and said 1min 45secs.
