Where to buy in Central/SE London?

Hi everyone, i have just changed jobs and decided i can't face the underground anymore. I'm hoping to buy a bike for the first time this weekend.
Looking for a basic, cheap (or 2nd hand) hybrid/commuter bike.
Any recommendations on where to purchase from?
Visited "on your bike" in SE1 today and they are doing refurbed ex-hire bikes for £150.
