Sad to hear of the death of Paul Newman - not only a great film actor but also a great supporter of the Lotus marque. Not many people have won races in an Esprit whilst in their 70's.

Goodbye Paul - such a sad loss. Especially poignant was him driving his racing cars for the last time a short time ago.

He was not only a great Porsche Man but a true gentleman. And he did an awful lot of charitable work for the hole in the wall gang, Barretstown Kids. Maybe if things go right Paul, you will win the Le Mans you deserve in the next life. Any true admirers of Paul Newman, please remember them and him.

When I went to Daytona for the 24hr in the mid 90's Newman was entered in a car. I believe he did a few laps in testing but didnt actaully compete in the 24hr. I think his name on the entry was more of a birthday present , mind you he was in his late 70's !!!!

Apparently he donated over 220 mill dollars to charities - what a generous guy.

I was under the impression that he actually competed in that race (1995) winning his class. I've read several stories that say he raced. He definately raced in the 1979 Le Mans 24 hours finishing second.

Very sad news, though.

Sort of, he created and marketed a range of sauces and all pofits after tax went to charity.
