Drive car from cold, after about 10-15 mins of normal (sedate) driving the car suddenly losses drive - a blip of the throttle and engage a gear - power loss continues - blip again and off we go as normal. It has now happened 3 times in as many weeks. The car starts normally, drives normally, sounds normal and apart from this hiccup is otherwise completely fine.

It sounds like an electrical problem to me but that's a rather uneducated guess.

Any ideas what it might be?

Mine did a simaler thing... it turned out it was water corrosion on the printed circuit.
This is located in the drivers footwell
It was removed and cleaned..all the terminals etc were green..

Sam, thanks for your post. As the other poster asks, can you give directions to the circuit board in question or any pics.

Thanks
