TAG F1 - Early 90s version
Discussion
Hi Guys
I treated myself today to a TAG F1, the original version from the early 90s as I have always fancied one.
It has the stainless steel bracelet, a luminous face and a green bezel.
However, does anyone know the history of this model? For example when it was introduced and details of the movement etc? I have trawled through the Internet and can't find anything.
Many thanks!
ETA If you haven't already check out TAG's virtual museum on their website. It's amazing, and there is some great motor racing history there too:

Also, does anyone know how I could date my for me F1 by its serial number?

My favourite watch in my collection is my Tag F1, original chronograph... With the yellow face. It was the wtach I always wanted as a kid and when I left uni, I bought one! I got it fromt he Tag outlet store at Bicester, after they were discontinued and I was so excited!
A few years later, I was given an almost identical watch which was limited to 1500 pieces I think and has Renault F1 on the dial. I have never worn that and it is still in it's box with sale tags and everything...
I wonder if that is worth something!
My Sub and IWC get most of the wrist time these days and my Seiko autos what is left, so sadly the F1s are a bit maligned... I must break them out for some wrist time soon!

Thanks for the info guys.
I felt a massive wave of nostalgia when I saw it for sale and I just had to have it. It is in good condition overall (some slight wear to the bezel) and the strap is excellent.
I got it for £150 (as part of a combined deal with an engagement ring ; )
In this age of over-sized watches it is amazing how small it looks now-adays. It only came in mid-size, or a ladies version (which was tiny).
The chronograph version of the "series 1" F1 rocks. A lovely watch, and a decent size too ; )

That one with the blue bezel and bracelet is identical to mine. Bought it 2nd hand about 10 years ago from a dealers in London. Think I paid about a hundred quid for it. Sent it back to TAG a couple of years ago for the glass to be replaced and a new batery. Gets used loads as it's my working in the workshop watch. Nice and small so it doesn't get caught on things.
Good choice btw.
