Servicing in the South East

Evening all,
I'm progressing my plans to get an S3. I'm not much of a spanner-man so wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction regarding getting the car serviced.
I'm in Tunbridge Wells in Kent, but happy to travel anywhere in the South East if required.
Also, if I was doing 4,000 miles a year, would an annual service be OK? What should I expect to pay?
Any help would be great.

Hi Matt, am not far from you and have just been reviewing the service options myself for my V8SC.
Depends greatly on the size of the operation. Dream Machines (01435 868456) at Heathfield are highly recommended and quote the advertised rate of £666.00 which is same as Chimera. But they will reduce this quite a bit by negotiation. Bigger dealers let you have a loan car as well.
Dan Taylor has just started Taylor TVR in Maidstone (01622 718314), nice guy & well respected .He quoted £495.00, not VAT registered as yet.
i have also been recommended Chris Bailey at Wingham and Chris Baldock at Molash. I was looking for someone closer, but my guess is these guys would be very competitive.

Mine's heading off for a major service along with MOT and a few other bits tomorrow.
It's going to Trimar (the TVR Centre) in Barnet and the service is £440. A lot more than I've paid for other cars (that's usually been DIY), but decided given it has low mileage and FSH that I'd do the job properly.
I've heard good things about them. I'll let you know how it goes.

I've a slightly different opinion on servicing.
I've been using a local garage for 20-odd years, I'm lucky because I went to school with the guys that run it and they have serviced almost every car I've had, the exception being a company Golf that had to be dealer serviced.
I get a full service for about £60 labour with parts added on top. I've not had a bill over £150 and that was for oil and a full set of brakes.
I'd be interested to know if a 'TVR' service history affects the resale value of anyone's car compared to a stamped service history from a 'normal' garage.

I don't doubt there are other people who could do it commercially, but without knowing the local garages (and having heard horror stories of people jacking onto the cross members and so on) Ive elected to play it safe: "Take it away; give it back when it's serviced, MOT'd and ready to go."
