Looked great in the flesh....
Sorry I got a last minute call to say it would be in the showroom from ameyc. Was only there for a couple of hours on route to the Paris Motorshow. A couple of engineers were with the car and were very informative and helpful....
The Seats and driving position is Spot on and the cabin does feel like a quality item and a very nice place to be, lots of leather and nice shiney bits, doesnt have a plactic Eurobox feel at all. Even the sills had had the leather treatment!!!!!
Did point out to them the chrome door handles might look a bit crap on some colours, they said it may be something you could opt out on for colour coded handles.
All in all very impressed and finances and test drive dependant may well have a look at one.

Still not keen on those rear haunches... seems to be too much vertical body panel above the rear wheels.... each to their own. There again I wasn't keen on the rad vents on the S1 Elise bonnet when it first came out.... 9 years of ownership later and strangely it no longer phases me....

i like it how they rope it off... give it a couple more months and they won't be able to give the damn things away, let alone try to prevent people from getting too close!
I'm a bit concerned for Lotus on this one, no matter what my feelings are on the car I do think it is the wrong car at the wrong time...The price is certainly wrong but we knew that in the summer. However, now the whole financial world is different. I should buy this car - I have enough cash spare to buy it, I have a history of buying Lotus and I like the brand.
Would I buy one... No way! I don't really like it, but more than that this isnt the time to be spending that sort of cash, its time to batten down and hope everything doesnt collapse around us. I think Lotus are either going to have to rationalise the numbers they want to sell or give them away, in either case they are at risk because they have to recoup the development costs.
Wrong car at the wrong time; but even if it was the right car its still the wrong time...

Bare in mind Lotus are only aiming to sell 2000 a year though. Assuming the US market recovers (and how likely that is, I don't think anyone really knows) half of that will be in the US. Selling 3 a day across the UK for the first year doesn't seem an unlikely target to hit, even in the current economic environment.
