Anyone had this experience ? I take my chim out for an urban crawl and pull up for petrol. she won't restart unless she's had a 10 min 'rest'. Fuel pump and Fans come on but no starter. I had the factory alarm checked and that had burnt itself out, replaced it, but still have the restart problem.

Sounds like the usual dodgy starter motor problem. Probably on its way out and you'll need a new/reconditioned one.

Loads of info in the archives...

Yup,same problem i get.If your moving along no problem but as soon as you have to crawl or get stuck the starter gets too hot and jams.Flip the bonnet and check oil(so you dont look stupid on petrol forecourt)and bingo restarts no prob.It doesnt always do this it is only when it gets REALLY hot.

Due to the the high temperatures around there this can be a common problem with the Chimaera and Griffith.

The easiest and cheapest way to sort most of these out is to install some `Thermal Heat Wrap' around the starter motor and that usually sorts it out.

Happened to me before and what do you do for 15 minutes that doesn't look like your bothered!!

Basically it should be a £50 TVR Specialist fix

Mr Big has just gone the heat shield route on the Griffith. We did find however that if you leave the engine running until the fans cut out then that does seem to sort the problem. It is no good just leaving the ignition on as this doesn't circulate the water. This did work everytime when we tried it but he wasn't always that good at remembering to leave it running.
