I have a friend that was recently done and recieved his points and penalty.

He told me that he sent a cheque for £65 because even though it was only £60 if you send a cheque for too much they have to send you a refund cheque for £5... and they won't cash the original cheque untill they see you have taken the £5 back...

So he is now sitting with a £5 cheque that he won't cash because he dosn't think they will take the £65...

Is it true... I doubt it... but I don't know...

Why didn't he send a cheque for £60.01? He's lost 2 and a half pints there!

I knew someone that sent a cheque written on a big piece of card in response to a motoring fine, after having checked with the bank that it was legal to do so.
Apparently this cocked things up enough that he never did get fined + points. It was a while ago though, & he thinks that it wouldn't work again....
