Cafe 21 is still ok. Even though I get the feeling Terry Laybourne is over streching himself somewhat at the moment.

Funny, I've just booked myself a table at Cafe 21..

Also had http://www.gustorestaurants.uk.com/ recommended, but never tried it myself

I heard "Starters and Puds" was worth a look (meals exactly as the title suggests) but that was from a Geordie who is a relative so take with a pinch of brown ale....

It was terrible when I went.

I didn't like it when it was Charlies as it always seemed to have a really bad smell about the place, now the food is just s**t, at least there was no smell.

Newcastle restaurants seem to be bks at the moment. We find ourselves traveling further away for something nice.

The Star Inn is great, combine it with an overnight stay too.

Take back my comment of Café 21 being ok. Was in last night and it was one of the best meals I've had for a long time in Newcastle.

It was great.

Apart from the whinging tt sat next to us who would not shut up and the prices! If you do happen to post on here get a grip you tight !

cafe 21 is pretty good. The black door (both the restaurant and brasserie) are worth a look too smile

Yeah tried both and they are good but I have had one bad meal but most places have an off day.

But like I said earlier and I don't know if you agree but most places in Newcastle seem to be going down hill. With only a few places that are still good or worth going.

Edited to add this.

I live in Boldon and my locals are the Red Lion and the Black Horse. I have to say Pete Zulu in the Black Horse has really pulled his finger out recently and the food is worth a go for a pub.
