Hi all,it looks like i might have one or two injectors that are not performing at their best,so was wondering what the next course of action should be.Is there a better replacement injector now available,or are new std ones as good as you would get?I'm thinking of getting replacements from over in the states,as i got a set of new red tops for my griff for litle more than £200 from there. All advice greatfully receivedsmile

Hi Mike wavey

A few years back Austec replaced my injectors with Bosche ones. Supposed to be better (dont ask me why!, well you can, something to do with 'spray patterns'?)

Im sure if you called Paul at Austec he can tell you what type they are smile

The usual approach would be to get them tested and reconditioned, this is quite a bit cheaper than new injectors and avoids any possible issues from changing the flow rate or spray pattern.

Boxer motor works came highly recommended on here a while ago for cleaning.

Seem to recall about £30 each injector but very thorough, versus about £50 each for new ones.

Cheers guys(hello Fubeswavey ).I didn't really think it worthwhile to get the old ones cleaned,if the cost of the last set i bought was anything to go by.I think it's more a case of knowing which ones to get to be honestscratchchin

Have considered getting an ultra-sonic cleaner off flea-bay for Carb (Carb not Cerb)parts. Has anyone tried this themselves, and if so would it work on injectors? £30 each for cleaning does not sound much but times that by 8 and it's erm quite a bitsmile. Testing the spray yourself would be a bit tricky, but seems like money for old rope.

It's not just a simple case of cleaning. Anyone reconditioning an injector should replace the mesh filter and flow test each injector to ensure you don't get one that will inject fuel at a differing rate to the remaining 7. On one of my race cars we went through 12 second hand injectors in order to find a set of four I was confident in batch firing. If you think you are having issues with injectors it's definately worth correcting and as soon as possible to avoid bore wash or lean running on one cylinder.
