What's the latest on laser jammers?
Discussion
In October 2003's Classic & Sportscar magazine, the is an advertisement (page 163) for a laser jammer: Rocky Mountain Laser / Radar Detector and Laser Jammer.
They claim that it is legal, in that there are no laws against the transmission of its infra red jamming beam. If this is true, £329.99 sounds tempting.

There are no laws against transmitting light otherwise I would be in trouble whenever I opened the fridge door...
The problem is using the light (infra red or laser diode in the LRC case) to interfere with a policemans job.
IMO they would not bother with you as you are just one lost £60. There might be a risk of it costing them money if it goes through court and they lose so as long as you use the jammer sensibly then you should not have a problem (i.e slow down to speed limit, turn it off, let them get a reading, on your merry way again
)I thought that if you do drive around everywhere at MACH 2 and use one then I recon your asking fro trouble, however if you're only doing a small amount over the limit and you jam a signal - slow down switch it off and then let them get a proper reading I think you might get away with it....

so far there has not been a good case on it that i am aware of.
from what i can se if they tryed a perverting the course of justis one, they would have a hard time proving it.
Maybe only an urban legend, but doesn't there have to have been a crime for an attempting to pervert charge to be made?

The 'crime' was speeding![]()
But how did they get the evidence that a crime had been committed? Did they set up a 'sting' operation, e.g. radar as well?
