Hello,

Im looking for some feedback from people who've owned one of the above. My only Audi experience is an A4 Avant Tdi. That was a very nice car but I tried 4 dealers for servicing and they all sucked so I sold it.

I live in Canada so am looking for 4WD ideally and I love the look of Audi's. The car is 2005 with 77,000 km, with certified Audi warranty upto 120,000 km. The inside is just lovely but I soon fall out with cars that go wrong often. Top Gear mag has the A6 at something like 86th in the owner reviews survey. Odd things every now and again going wrong I can take but constant niggles I can't stand.

Cheers,
CB

Well as you've not had a reply; I don't own one personally but we often sell and service A6s further through their life span than a lot of garages do.

Generally, they're very sound and it's unusual we'll raise any significant concerns on a report sheet. I've seen a 2 year old 3.0 TDI do 134,000 miles in just shy of 2 years that had wanted nothing beyond routine servicing and a few sets of brakes and tyres.

The only serious concern I remember on an A6 was where someone had changed a rear light bulb and not refitted a gromet for the lamp unit correctly. This had over time let water in and drowned the sat anv unit. Not really the car's fault though.

hey,

I own a MY04 saloon version. Very reliable so far, nice sound, strong pull and all the gadgets you could need.

Servicing is a little pricey, ~£400 per go. Audi tell me larger engine cost more to service apparently...

They swallow quite a bit of oil (which Audi charge a lot for) but there's no need to go to a main dealer; there are lots of good, reputable independents with the proper kit to service these now smile

My 2003 R32 3.2 doesn't touch a drop of oil between Longlife services, although it has only done 44 000 miles (70 000 km).

It just drinks a lot of fuel (serves me right for spanking it really). rolleyes

I'm very tempted by it. Lovely lovely lovely inside. Thanks for the replies. Same dealer has a 2005 A8 4.2 with 44,000 km on it. That is about 1/3 more in price but what a nice wagon that is. Don't think I'll stretch to that though.

See what he'll do on it. A8s are very, very reliable, and the 4.2 is an excellent engine. Probably no difference in terms of thirst, and the A8 has all the toys.

Different engine wink

What I actually meant was I think they need 7 litres empty to full; and at the 20 odd quid Audi charge for a litre that rapidly bumps up service pricing.
