sealing the head light baskets

I've got some dirt and dust that has accumulated in the head light basket. There must not be a great seal with the basket and the dust is getting into the area and is visible from the outside. What have you done to seal this up?

Can't say I have looked very hard but 14,000 miles and 4 years I am not having that problem.
Have you got foam sealing strip around where the headlight cover meets the underside of the clip?

No, but now I know what that foam was for that I got in the kit that is still sitting on the shelf. Hahahaha. Thanks Steve!

I though that open cell foam was there to provide the headlamps with a constant water source should the air inside be a little too dry to create the right level of condensation

I left a small gap at the bottom of the foam seal and have no condensation issues at all.

Perhaps that is where I am going wrong - do you do many miles in the wet though?

I always thought the sealed in headlights are a pain, mine condense reguarly plus have some dirt in. Lotus and others have the right answer in that they countersink two bolts/screws to hold their perspex covers in place. Have a look at an Elise next time you see one, it's quite a neat job.
