The missus and I are going to Atlanta at the end of November for her brothers wedding. At somepoint we'll want to get some dollars. Based on what's going on with the markets, should we:

a) Buy dollars now as the pound will get worse.

b) Wait for a while as the dollar will get worse.

c) Nobody really knows, so it's all down to luck.

Cheers chaps.

Depends if the US government approves this bailout I guess.

I was there at the end of July/beginning of August which was lucky as it dived just after that. But I'm back in March so have the same dilemma!

There was talk of it hitting $1.6-£1 by the end of this year. If the US approve a bank bailout then this may strengthen the $, it could weaken it...who knows! Also a change in President may well kick start the US economy. I earn USD and live in the UK so I hope these predictions are correct!

So should you wait? Who knows!

TBH mate, unless you'll be changing up £1,000,000 I wouldn't worry too much.

You make a good point. I can probably be more financially prudent by buying/drinking less beer when I'm out there.

Even at $1.50/£1.00 most stuff is still way cheaper out there, especially electronics etc, so just go and enjoy it smile
