I think Dom was having a mad 5 mins when he shut down the part 1 thread, we've discussed lots of other specialists on 'ere with no probs- anything too libelous for Ted & its gets deleted & disscussions can continue by e-mail if desired. Not a lot of point in having a Porsche forum if you can't discuss a decent place to buy one after all!

Dom chill out & have a beer mate, turning 30 doesnt mean you have to go all senile and erratic you know.

ps Sorry no experience of MCP Melv!

but pps I don't belive you always get what you pay for ref Porsche pricing mate, otherwise Autoclassica's cars would would have little diamonds under the seat as a treat for you to justify their daftly high prices

LOL!!! D'ya know there's a bar named after you by J13 of the M25.......The Iguana -no relation?

BTW, this started with a query to me, as PCGB 964RS Register Secretary, from a PCGB member, as a prospective purchaser of rather an interesting car that MCP are importing. Feedback has been mixed, like with any dealer, and for those who have bought from him, this has all been positive.

Thankyou for your feedback, which I have passed on to the buyer -it all helps me to fulfill my role!

Well, MCP bought my car from the guy who bought it from me, so I can vouch for the quality of that car...even if they were looking to sell it for £5k more than I sold it for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats car dealers for you, they have to make a profit somewhere.

So what's wrong with a bit of profit then? How else do these guys survive?

I guess you're right guys, after all that profit does cover the cost of decent warranties and back up service if (heaven forbid) the car ever develops a fault

Patrick, you can always send me an email if you don't like my moderation. I can then have a chance to explain why I have done something.

The reason I closed the original thread is because Melv asked people to email him with their experiences, so there was no point having a potentially libellous thread emerging here in case someone had an axe to grind. Melv gets his info (which happens to be mixed as always) and others can email Melv if they want to find out more, so what? The instant that someone posts something libellous, Ted's arse is on the line. He, or a mod, needs to delete it quickly. And prevention is better than cure. I for one, have heard mixed comments about Martin, so refrained from posting myself.

I am unlikely to close a thread full of praise for a specialist.

Edited cos my spelling is even worse than my moderation

We forgive you domster, about the spelling anyway

Reason i stuck it in feedback was:

a) I am always interested in feedback over dealers, and was hoping any good feedback would be posted here (email was an option in the thread - although it was assumed to be for the negative stuff that we dont want in public)

b) Quicker response from feedback forum, if you like me ever spend a significant amount of time away from a PC then a mail could take a day to get to you, etc when i imagine most mods check anything that gets posted in feedback pretty quickly

Quickest way to ensure something gets seen is to do an abuse report - this is seen by all the mods very quickly. Only Ted tends to prowl website feedback. Don't worry, we don't take the 'abuse' thing personally. That's what we're here for, eh Iguana?

Needless to say, all positive feeback about dealers is welcomed on any PH forum. It is the negative stuff that can cause problems. Perhaps it's in the wording:

"Can anyone recommend MCP? If they can, please tell all. If they can't,please post 'you have mail' and give me the details off list."

At least we can then we can see how many upset customers exist

PS I am taking a stauncher view on talking about dealers after Tom from 911 Virgin logged in and read what PHers - including me - had been saying about them. It had a happy ending but lesson learned... you don't know who's reading. Maybe even Martin Pearce

Excellent wording Domster that should be put in one of the FAQ's might help avoid some worthwhile threads meeting with Mr Bin

"I bought my 968 CS M030 through him (and his partner in Germany - german car). Nice guy, very knowledgeable, and as far as I can tell they will only sell you the best preowned cars. Mine was in mint condition and has gotten many compliments, including from my porsche specialist in Germany. They are not cheap, so if you are looking for a bargain, they are not it. But if you are looking for quality and willing to pay for it, they should be good."

Couldn't be fairer than that, could it?

I have bought a car off one of Martin's German contacts directly, Frank Jakob, and can confirm that Martin tends to get the pick of the crop. A 968CS I was thinking of getting had already been taken by MCP However, not all of Frank's cars were 'main dealer' quality (by his own honest admission) and when Martin put the 968CS up for sale a few months later it was not at Frank's bargain price

Care is always needed in these matters. There's no dealer so good that an independent inspection won't go amiss... and there's often a bad story for every good one - apart from JZ Machtech, who seem to do everything right

Anyone got any dirt on JZM? Only joking.

Interestingly, I may be considering an Alpina B8 estate at some point, and Martin specialises in them, so our paths may yet cross.

No relation tho, mind you if you do see any T shirts with 'Blue Iguana Surfwear- Trinidad West Indies' plastered on 'em that was one of mine, few years ago now mind you.
