Well, can you imagine my suprise .....

All I need to do is call 0800 988 9900 and quote my address.

Now .. the phone number googles some interesting HardSell Timeshare SCAM posts

Should I take it and tell them "No from the start .... ?

Even if you get the holiday, you'll find something essential isn't included - flights, transfer, accommodation, food, air.

I can imagine the phone call now...

Well.......come.....................to....................the.............holiday................. etc, etc.

Some friends of mine were offered a similar deal. They looked into it and found that they could indeed have a free holiday if they agreed to attend a meeting when they got there.

They packed their bags, flew abroad, listened to a short lecture about timeshares. They explained that they weren't really interested in buying one and spent the rest of the holiday doing as they pleased.

People are quick to shout scam these days but, while there may be strings attached, it should be perfectly possible to claim your free holiday.

i've seen quite a few advertised like this - you just need to go to the presentation - which is basically a hard sell to get you to buy, usually alongside some conditions like you must go as a couple and must earn between you x thousand, must be between the ages of x and y and so on and so forth....

We did a weekend like that. It wasn't worth it, I'd rather have paid full wack and gone soemwhere nice without a bunch of slimy, thick "sales" people about.

You are going to let your missus call? All they'll need to do is tell her about the walk-in wardrobe with ample shoe racks and you'll be tied into 40 years of misery before you can say "Benidorm".

Yes, exactly the same thing happened to us - the catch was they chose which airport and only gave 2 weeks notice. However, we asked them to change the date and the airport and we had a really good holiday for a £38 'booking fee'. I'm not sure we'd ever be that lucky again, though.

Just had one of those calls and discovered that by repeatedly pressing "9" it got to a part of the script where it claimed that we had been removed from the database.

Is it true ? We shall see...but if not TPS will be getting a swift kick up the bum to ensure that their opt-out database is properly distributed.
