Britcar Mosler Challenge??

Does this mean that there will now be a U.K. Mosler Challenge run alongside Britcar in 2009 or does that mean that there will be a Mosler class in Britcar?? I'm rather confused by the post on the Britcar website.
M
In the DSC the Moslers run within the DSC race not separate.M
I'm sorry Andrew but that just confuses me further. Either the Moslers are part of the Britcar race or they aren't. What I'm trying to determine is whether I face fighting for an overall win next year against a ruck of Moslers, or whether they will all be fighting for the Mosler Challenge instead, whilst being on the track at the same time as the Britcar race.....
In DSC the Moslers are part of the DSC race. Moslers count in the DSC results in the GT division (assuming they are registered for DSC)
In addition, they also compete for the Mosler Challenge. For which only Moslers are eligible.
If you aren't in a Mosler, the fact that there is a Mosler Challenge going on doesn't affect you at all. Except perhaps that there may be more Moslers in the race than there might otherwise have been.

Oh joy of joys. Where once there was the merest hint that courtesy would prevail as the faster cars came round to lap you there is now no doubt that you will be dived down the inside as they chase their £10k pot
It was my understanding that class 1 was going to remain unchanged at 2.7kg / bhp, current class 2 would remain unchanged at 3.7kg / bhp and be called class 3 and there would be a new class 2 between the two at 3.2kg/ bhp. It would appear that in fact a new class 1 is being created to allow more power to weight in an attempt to make the new "super" class 1 cars 3-4 seconds a lap quicker than the current class 1 cars according to Autosport
. Me thinks there may be trouble ahead captain.
We have no desire to go racing in a Porsche 911 where we are expected to pull over as the main event comes round to lap us. I think James is pandering to at most half a dozen cars at one end of the grid whilst waving a fond farewell to 20 or 30 cars at the other end.
If the GT cup extended their races to a couple of hours thus making 2 driver entries viable they would clean up at the moment. They also have fingers in the right pies in terms of technical scrutineers and regulation, I know one very suitable candidate who is currently completing the necessary formalities and who is well known to the GT cup organisers.
Time, as ever, will tell.

I think that you could be correct Henry on that. I will not enter if playing 2nd fiddle to a load of unrestricted Moslers.
As for DP we were thinking about doing that round but can't do Brands as the cars will be on their way to Dubai.
James I think that you need to clarify the class situation for next year asap.

From EERC Website;
"With Mosler Europe having put 120,000 Euros into the Mosler Challenge in the DSC races this year, the same support will also be applied to Britcar next year."
"It’s likely that Britcar and the Dutch Supercar Challenge will be on the same programme on occasion next year, so there will be a host of races, and a bundle of prize money, for Mosler participants."
Sounds to me that both will run a Mosler "Free-For-All" Sorry Challenge?

You should put your money where your mouth is Henry, and go and play in the GT Cup. Having to keep reading about your issues with the "superclasses" gets a bit wearing. If you think that by having a Porsche 911, albeit one that is 7 years old, gives you the right to not be overtaken by faster, more modern cars, which invariably will have more horsepower and developmet by default, you are being a tad delusional and by all intents probably racing in the wrong championship.

That's a brave comment to my race partner? If we are running a 7 year old 996 is that not competitive in Endurance Racing why are we right up there for another Championship win???

Keep your comments valid or by me a

By my immense powers of deduction I`m assuming Minimac is in fact Sean McInerney.
I have raced in Britcar for a number of years and have seen the bar raised year on year. My car isn`t new and I don`t expect to be on the top step of the podium, (although we are hoping to win the championship this year !). I also have a 997 cup car which has just been purchased to keep on top of progress in whatever series I choose to compete. In previous seasons that would have allowed a shot at the top step, it`s now 2 classes short.
A number of years ago I remember James talking to us in the driver`s briefing at Zolder, you may even have been there. Belcar were there at the time and I can quote his words verbatim.
"Belcar is Britcar with bling and that`s not the way we`re going" It appears he was wrong.
Much talk was made, (and still is) of Britcar being a cost effective platform on which to go racing and I watch as that cost has grown year on year. Indeed to many my own car would be seen as excessive by some. The only reason I`m currently racing in Britcar is because there isn`t an alternative if you want multi-driver endurance races over a number of hours.
I don`t think I`m alone in my thoughts or feelings although I accept I`m not shy in voicing my opinion. I like to think I see the bigger picture and certainly try to put brain into gear before fingers hit the keyboard.
My aim isn`t to engineer Britcar into a series that allows me in my 7 year old 996 cup car free passage to the top step of the podium. I hope I`m trying offer thoughts that will allow Britcar to remain commercially viable and provide cost effective safe racing for as large a number of competitors as possible.
I realise you have made a financial investment in your Mosler and want to carry on racing it. You will no doubt see my postings as potentially detrimental to that. I appologise.
Unless I become a Mosler dealer I don`t have the option to race one so in that respect yes I`m possibly biased. If I`m being honest I don`t think I`m a good enough driver either. I don`t feel I`ve got the best out of my Porsche yet and would like to do that before I consider making such a leap up in terms of performance but that`s just me and not the driving force behind my posts.

If the field is to be levelled using the DL1, there must be more dynamic tweaking to either slow down the faster cars, or to speed up the slower ones.
Britcar/JT needs to hand out more weight or aero tweaks in order to square things up further, and to not be scared of any such criticism that may be levied in the path for true performance equalising.
JT has many weapons in his armoury, from weight and aero, to the length of pitstops, all in an effort to ensure a close finish for races and the series overall. I hope that he's going to use them.
It should be possible to enter anything in the "ballpark" and be competitive in the chosen class. Whether that's a Mosler, C5, Marcos, Ford Falcon, or V8Star in Class 1 it should not matter. The performance levelling should take care of it.
Clearly there are concerns that it's going to be a Moslerfest, well I'm sure JT's thought of it, and will be looking at ways of maintaining the status quo.
