Looking at my local OS maps I see loads of tracks around.

I know that there aren't many green lanes in Scotland but does anybody know the legality of driving tracks in a 4x4?

I thought that the Trespass law didn't exist (or apply?) in Scotland but I may well be wrong - I don't know where I heard it and it could be either a public-myth or a made-up-ism in my head. hehe

As best i can remember you are allowed to pass through almost any land in scotland assuming that you do no damage. A '4x4' may do damage to the ground you are passing over and if you did so you'd be in a position of danger!

you can walk almost anywhere you like............

however, you will find that you can hardly drive anywhere but classified roads. the rest will be gated/looked.

its sooo frustrating!!!!
