Evening all, as I know fellow PHers do a wide variety of jobs I was wondering if someone had an idea on how much I should pay to get my window fixed, as the landlord is due for an inspection this week so it needs to be fixed pronto..

Thanks in advance

6 panes @ a tenner each cash to be done PDQ !! However the sashes also look out of line, so there could be other problems.

I take it the picture is sideways on ?

Oh and wash them as well.

is it worth me buying the panes in advance and then getting them fitted? How much do people charge for a job like this?

The window is on the top floor..

So i'm thinking the window must be removed completely to fit the new panes. Which equals quite a bit more money no?

in that case you either need access from outside or need to take the sashes out

If they're sash windows just remove the beading on the inside and swing the sashes out.

right, Ive popped the bit of wood off the inside of the window and they can be removed easily..

The only question is the price.. 200 quid should cover it shirly

i cut my nose so badly, I'm going to need plastic surgery to get rid of the lump of squished flesh that remains on the bridge.

I went to casualty too late for them to anything apart from clean it up.

You could glaze and refurbish the whole window for that!

And paint it in gold leaf..

Alternatively, wait until your landlord arrives downstairs, and as you welcome him through the front door, have someone outside throw some dead pigeons (stuffed with lead shot and wiped down with some blood from some fresh lambs' kidneys, available from Sainsbury's) through the remaining panes of glass from the outside. Flinch visibly at the sound of breaking glass from above, and rush upstairs followed the the landlord to find a fairly grisly scene of glass and gore inside the window. The landlord will put it down to a couple of demented pigeons hitting the glass, and you are out of the frame (ho ho) for the damage. Plus you have some kidneys to go with a nice breakfast fry-up.

Given the PistonHead context, there's a gnawing concern in the back of my mind over the use of pigeons, but I can't quite put my finger on it......
