Apparently it's a documentary, it really happened last year around the Cardiff/Swansea area. The fim has been mirror-imaged to make it look American. Oh, and the voices were dubbed, it was all in Welsh originally...

Can't really claim to be much of a fan of the film (although the trailer for the new one looks entertaining!), but if you like this sort of thing you should really check out the Carmageddon games if you haven't already! Completely based on this film, right down to the cars you drive and the points you get for running people over

I don't think it was banned. I remember going to see it around 1980/81 time on a late night double bill at the local cinema. Rollerball and Death Race 2000 together on a friday night after an evening in the pub. That was a night of mayhem. But funnily enough it didn't turn us all into murderers.

Love the film. Occasionaly play the Deathrace 2000 game in the car with certain passangers. Keep score of all the people crossing the road to see how many points you could get.
