Hi

Does anyone in here have any knowledge of business dealings in Latvia?

I've identified a niche (ish) market, and am considering a move to a European country on a part time basis. I was on the brink of moving to France when a long lost friend showed up, telling me that he's been in Latvia for a few years and suggesting I consider it as an option.

If anyone does have any experience in that region I'd appreciate a little "insider" knowledge from the shop floor. All of the books, papers, adn chats with friendly Latvian officals won't tell me what it's really like - that comes from people who have done it.

Thanks very much

Justin

I don´t know much about Latvian business customs but I do know thing or two about Estonia. As they are in the same region I might be able to help you.

Latvia is ok as a country. Mostly friendly types but they are stuck halfway between being dodgy like the former soviet block that they are and modern western like we are and you're never sure exactly what category the person you meet fits into. Great weather in the summer. Bitter in the winter

E36GUY it sounds as though you're talking from experience. How much time have you spent there?

I have a home in Latvia and in the UK. As such, I have a wealth of personal and professional experience in the country. Following from other posts I would like to affirm that the people you meet will largely depend on the market you want to enter. The country is extremely beneficial for those with the patience and ambition for the territory. Also, it helps (almost by 100%} if you have a basic understanding of the language. I learnt after 3 months of living there and now, whilst I do not speak fluently has opened many doors. Drop me a PM if you still looking for advice and if, you need partner, investor and/or mentor for the market.

Hi

Thanks for the messages.

Sunchine, I may well take you up on that one. Just back in the office after a week in a hospital bed, so I'll be tied up for a few days.

Regards

Justin
