so if the country's finances are in such a poor state, should the government have the good sense to cancel the olympics and not waste all those billions which could be better used to fund the nhs etc?

The limpix. They want them here? What? Why? Don't they know London has got enough exotic gentlemen who are very quick on their feet, and excellent at scaling walls, already ?

Will there be a parade that includes the Drum Majorettes from Royal Tunbridge Wells?

I'm in.

And Soovy has got me onto the guest list for the backstage party.

With the talk of 100,000 builders being out of work, why not send them all to the London to build the Stadiums etc, government should be able to get a good discount on rate of pay.

ETA - And we may finish them on time.

I fear you have been sadly misled about what a 'backstage party' actually constitutes.

the olympics fiscal spending will be the thing that gets us out of this mire. i'd say it actually has more purpose now than it ever did before.

sorry but i relax my thatcherism for this. i genuinely do see the olympics as being the catalyst needed to sort 'ourselves' out.

i do think we could do with some good old fashioned governement spending. especially as construction is otherwise rogered.

The Olympics could well be a good thing for the whole country, not just East London.
Come on, this is one of the very few chances that we can be proud of our country. We either don't normally get the chance, or we get moaned at when we do and be accused of racism etc.
