Morgan GT Coupe

Limited edition version of Aero 8 racer to hit the roads

Aero Racing, makers of the two Morgan Aero 8s currently racing in the British GT Cup Class Championship, has joined forces with Morgan Motor Company to launch a special limited edition Aero 8 GT Coupé.

Just 15 numbered cars will be hand built at Morgan’s Malvern works to a unique specification.

Charles Morgan, Managing Director, chirped: “We have always tried to bring customers special developments from the race track, and this car is a superb example. It is very close indeed to the Aero 8 GT cars are just finishing their very first season in second and third places in the Championship – what a fantastic achievement!

The Aero 8 GT Coupés will be built on the Morgan production line, and finished by Aero Racing. They will get 330 Bhp, 4.6 BMW engines with a new ECU as fitted to the British GT cars, a carbon fibre hard top – specially developed for the GT racing cars, black centre lock OZ wheels, sports exhaust, uprated springs, and special trim. The GT Coupé is finished in ‘official’ Morgan Works Race Team two tone dark blue and silver.

UK retail price for the limited edition car is £72,500 inc VAT and delivery. A soft-top hood option is available at an additional retail price of £2,000 plus VAT. Like the standard Aero 8, the GT Coupé is not currently available to customers resident in the USA. An American specified Aero 8 will be launched in 2004.

Erm sorry but I think it looks pig ugly. Especially the front. But then I never did like open wheeled type cars with bicycle wheel mudgards (Morgan, Caterham, Westfield etc...)

I've never seen a bycycle with wings like a Morgan, I think you are getting a little mixed up.

Different strokes for different folks eh? I think it looks rather fun, but @ 72k it will be someone elses fun. Shame.

Prime example of how to make an astonishing ugly car even uglier. Amazes me that people part with 72k for this. May be quick and handle very well but how could you ever gloat over it.

I disagree, having seen the yellow and black DeWalt Morgan Aero 8 thundering round Le Mans last year I think its a fabulous car. The styling is a bit quirky but it pays homage to the classic/vintage Morgan styling, but in a quite clean modern aerodynamic kind of way. Wouldn't mind one myself if it was a beat less dosh.
