Remap for 996 C4S

I know DMS and other companies have been discussed mainly re: 996tt remaps. Has anyone done a remap to non turbo 996 or 997 engine? Power gains seem minimal about 20/30hp & 10tq more.

I imagine the delivery of power is improved rather than performace?

Interesting as i also thought about this an option over changing for a 997C2S until I drove a chaps 996 C4S that had the 345bhp upgrade and there was no real difference to be honest. I assume its the extra weight that the C4S carries that hinders it. The 996 C2 Anniversary with 345bhp feels allot stronger for the extra 25bhp.

Thats what I was thinking. Unless it's the 997 looks that you like, in terms of performance the few times I have gone up against one there's been nothing in it. If I was going to keep it for a while, supercharging would be another option.

Nice, but expensive. Suspect the brakes then need upgrading and bingo you could have put the money on a turbo.

Switch it for a manual mate, will make it as noticeably quicker as a remap

I had my old 996 C4S re-mapped and to be honest struggled to notice the difference.
It cost over £1000 and with hindsight should have spent the money on driver training or suchlike.

Any extra urge is quite high in the rev range. Its not much and you would struggle if you drove 2 cars with and without to say which was chipped IMO.

Thanks GTTwo- I would only consider it if I was to keep the car for a while, which I am not sure about.

Clevers, your right the extra money could just go into another car, but currently has turbo brakes so should be ok if I was to upgrade.

Adam, car may be a fraction faster in man but have raced 997 and 996 and have not suffered as a result of having a tip.

I have had the EVOMS software mods to my '03 996 C4S, late model, big bearing M96 engine.

Coupled with the IPD plenum, K&N filter, a Fabspeed X pipe with 200 cell cats, the car is transformed! No doubt there is a power increase, but I cannot speculate on numbers.

The power delivery is balk-free, torque curve more linear, and throttle response is much improved. It pulls much better!
Many folks resist the cost of the 'invisible' mods that a remap represents, but I highly recommend it. On track, the benefits are enormous.
