Can the grammar police please let me know which of the following is correct:

- "Keys cut while you wait"

- "Keys cut whilst you wait"

A client of ours is doing some advertising, and has used 'whilst,' but i think it should be 'while'...

Cheers chaps

"Fresh Fish Sold Here Today" ? <sniggers>

I think it should be 'while'.

Both are acceptable.

Whilst, though my preference, is now considered a little old fashioned so 'While' may be safer.

According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/While it doesn't matter.

Although he'd be considered pretentious and archaic apparently biggrin

For a sign I would pick while over whilst. From a scansion point of view, one rolls off the tongue quite well, the other sounds rather stilted.

Great, ta very much. I think it sounds more 'approachable' as 'while,' whereas 'whilst' sounds a bit old fashioned.

Thanks again.
