Was chatting to a work colleague today and the subject of cars popped up..to cut a long story short he called me ignorant and selfish to own a 2 litre car and to deliberately take the cat off. He told me he was saving for an electric car as it's good the enrivonment. Had no answer when I asked him about scrappig his 1.4 Corsa and what effect it will have, especially then a new car being built, and then obviously how the power from the electric comes from fossil fuels anyway lol. When i asked him if he had any hobbies etc he replied yes, he doesn't do it much but he loves to take flying lessons when he can afford to. Now wtf is this st all about? He's been brainwashed so much I had to end just laugh! Well done labour!

It's quite endemic really - as long as they're not producing as much CO2 at that point in time they feel perfectly happy and completely ignore the bigger picture of all the energy used to get that car made and to them.

Print this out:

Give it to him and as he reads it, probably with his mouth open, strangle him.

Invoice should be with you by the end of the week.

the batterys are basically made in 3 different countreys, shiped to another one then put together, then as you say, the leccy comes from fossle or nuke power.

AND when you come to get ride/scrap the car the battery will still live on for ages and be a major enviromental issue. so electric cars are not what they are cracked up to be for the oh great mother earth.

even organic geewiz's

Lol. No, srsly wink What is that about? Is he one of these muppets who thinks a really noisy exhaust is "cool"? The cat's got an important function. I can't understand why anyone would deliberately remove it.

Cat's are restrictive and sap power, and have very little to do with silencing the system. Oh and noisy exhausts most definately are a good thing provided they're not on some barried up tat or 'all mouth and no trousers' shopping car.

Do race cars have cats? No they don't for a good reason.

I'm pretty sure a car without a catalytic converter can pass an MOT test.
