Just a general comment really when you hear of a £19K drop in value in 9 months on a BMW M3 Dec O7 reg wiyh 5000 miles on the clock by one fastidious owner. It makes you think that your money is safer in a Tivver than in the mickey mouse banking system,at least you cant loose it.

I agree to an extent but it does depend on which TVR. For example, do you think that this:

should really be so much cheaper than this?

Anyone paying nigh on 20 grand for a '97 Griff needs their head testing IMO, whatever the prevailing financial climate smile

Not sure about good investment but certainly less depreciation than most (and if lucky/chosen carefully no depreciation at all - as Jason Dawe said about the Griff "free motoring!").

I'm on my 5th TVR and my average depreciation per year so far is <£1k - my last Griff made money over 3 years (although 'broke even' if you include the cosmetic improvements).

Certainly helps to offset the higher running cost to say a 'normal' car. (And justify "it's cheaper to own than a Ford" told to SWMBO...)

Depends what you include in the price.

For example I bought mine for 8k and after 2 years would probably get nearer 7k for it. However in the meantime I have spent 5k in repairs/refurbs. So in all a total 6k loss over two years. However I also owned the very same car 8 years ago bought for 28k and sold for 24k, so in the long run I am up.

However, 6k for two years of TVR is worth every penny. Next year should be a lot less.
