Tam not serviced since Dec 2006

Looking at a Tam to replace my Chim but it has not had a TVR service since Dec 2006 where she got the 12K job (11K mines), since then just had the oil change in Jan 2008. You might have seen the advert = see link:

Would you guys be worried or does anyone know any history of DK54DXY?

i don't know of the history of this car but, i would do a bit more digging. A 12k service in december and a 6k service in Jan 08 would not be bad, but just an oil change. I would be not getting the pennies out yet. Is there any chance you can phone the guy and ask which garage did the work and phone them and see how thorough the last trip in for the car was.

If it were taken off the road at that point, and only the oil were changed, its not necessarily a bad thing. Proving the mileage and use since the oil change is the thing that will be hard to do.

I would sugest that you get the seller to agree to pay half towards an inspection by a local specialist garage

that should give you some comfort as to it's current condition that and what others have said above about digging a little into it's history
particularly what it's done this year

I think he has just saved on the service (undre his ownership - one of his mates :~¬), says he has some reciepts, from an oil leak and a bit of spaying he had done in the boot to cover scratches, that plus all the previous paperwork. He has diven it a bit in the last few months but no garage and doesn't want it another winter. A couple of stone chips here and there - worth a viewing do you rechon? Oh yea, nice idea about the inspection - thanks.

That's a really good price and a great colour , and I can understand why some people would be put off by the lack of servicing. But it depends how mechanically-minded you are.

My Tamora hasn't had an official service since 2005. Purely because I'm keeping the car indefinitely and don't need the service stamp. And after visiting a few TVR specialists, I remain unimpressed with what they can offer.

Almost everything on the service schedule is easily done by a normal mechanic. The rest can be done by a specialist as and when required - if you know your car well enough to realise what needs doing.
