Mondeo TDCI engine change

Hi all,
can someone advise a newbie?
I have 2 mondeo TDCI 130's, one bodily mashed but mechanically ok & one with a blown engine, I need to do a "heart swap" and I've been told that the ECU is coded to the diesel pump. I think leaving the pump on the engine then changing the ECU from one car to another would be the easiest way but I've thought of other issues that no one can answer yet??
Is the ECU, Diesel pump and central locking all coded together?
If I swap ecu's with the engine will I get all the functions, ie one car has cruise the other doesn't.
If I leave ECU's and diesel pumps with their respective cars & swap only the engines is the pump difficult to set up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Leave all the electronics on the original cars,including injectors as these are coded to each car/ecu.
If you start swapping stuff some body control modules/fuse boxes may not work properly as they wont interact with the ecu.
otherwise get some one to code it all once in but it wont be cheap and could throw up a few gremlins.
changing the pump is easy,esp if out of the car.
you may not need to change the pump but theres a 50/50 it will work so you may as well use the one you know works anyway.

You can't swap injection system parts between cars... so if something goes wrong you can't pull another one off a scrapper.
You perfectly well could, it's not like they're actually incompatible or anything, it's just that some fvcking
has deliberately designed the system to fvck you about and make you pay someone to tell all the bits to work together.That says to me two things:
1) Never ever buy a diesel Ford or anything with a related electronics system.
2) If I ever meet the snivelling little s
tbag who designed it like that the t
t will wish I hadn't.I have fitted many pumps to these,always new though.
I have also changed plenty of injectors its a common fault on all these tdci`s, and they are coded to each car/ecu,if you start swapping ecus etc then as I said you could have issues with other modules e.g. body control which may or may not recognise some or all of the changed components.
the only way to be sure is to swap ALL electronics including body control modules,but if the two cars are slightly different spec you will end up with stuff not working and lights blaring at you from the dash.(I had a 56 407 peugeot wouldn`t start as it had water in the cd slot,canbus shut down couldn`t even get the steering lock off,great bit of design,but thats how it is) Ive done nearly 9k this year on diagnostic equipment alone!!
the canbus systems are famous for saying `no b
ks I wont comunicate with that part as I don`t recognise it even though it worked before`
what chance of some alien part working without it being coded or programmed,thats how it is nowdays.
I fix these f

would you get two computers and swap over half the bits from one to the other and just expect it to work without loading drivers and all that other s

It`s not just Ford it`s everything now, all canbus everything talks to every thing else most of the time anyway.1) Never ever buy a diesel Ford or anything with a related electronics system.
Everything is shuttling signals back and forth,monitoring everything else just to make it that much smarter and harder to fix yourself,of course.
But it does not work properly,not yet anyway.
thats why main dealers are always uploading new software into your car when it`s serviced.
A bit like a Windows update I suppose,fixing glitches as and when they can.
Some real late stuff is getting really silly.
Some of what I have encountered recently needing coding or programming to various cars:
Door mirrors,door latches/central locking motors,window switches,window regulators,bulbs,seatbelts(I kid you not),headlights,heater water valve(vw) and my favourite peugeot tyre valves.

I have justed changed my engine in 20tdci and dmf
The i have put in is out of a 2004 tdci, i have left the injectors and pump on.
Now the techy bit. The engine starts but idles at 700rpm bat light stays on.
Injectors have been programed by ford who also said pump not programable?????????????? cost £88.00
However the engine when left running all of a sudden starts to run smooth at 900 rpm and u can rev it.
turn the engine off same thing happens again starts to idle at 700rpm.
Engine code fault at present is P1631 main relay malfunction where's this?
spent £105 t-map sensor no joy

Hi Guys, so busy havn't had time to do the swapover yet, as I have both cars I intend to swap all the systems when the engines get changed over. I'm guessing that if all the boxes and bits are swapped I should be OK, we'll see???
Just a thought, I intended to swap the "blippers" from the keys to stay with the black boxes, can anyone think of a reason why I should have to change the mechanical parts of the locks as well??

The injectors are coded this way for calibration its the same on all common rail systems I've seen.
The injectors are tested at production, the calibration code effectively gives the flow map to the engine management ECU for each injector to improve fuelling accuracy.
CANbus systems have been on cars since the 80s, they are more common now, with most cars made after 2001 having them (mainly due to OBDII).
The reason for the Incompatibility between 'identical' components is two fold:
1. Mainly to enhance the security system, such that it is more difficult to turn up with another security ecu and get the car running, i.e. steal it.
2. Make money for their dealers, requiring specialist tooling in order to repair the vehicle.
Most 'software' updates aren't typically software updates (although sometimes!) and are more typically tuning updates, which allow the engine or component being controlled to be more reliable.

It works like this in engine assembly -
4 injectors are fitted to an engine
The 2d matrix code of each injector is read and stored to the engine build pallet chip, the matrix contains flow data for that particular injector.
When the engine is complete a label is printed, including the 2d matrix for each injector
When the engine is put in the car the label is read, including the injector data, which then gets loaded to the ECU.
This does not always happen, in some markets the PSA DV4 8 valve engine does not have the injectors read, an average injector is assumed.
