OK, I have just found out I have exactly 3 weeks to get in better shape. I am a bit unfit and need to build a little muscle.
Are there any dieticians out there or trainers who can give me a little advice?

I am planning on cutting down on carbs and upping the protein and need to do weights but, is there anything anyone can suggest that I can also do to build up a little better stamina?

Please please please help as this is really important to me.

O/T - ETA that I tought I sould mention cars as well. My RX8 is Dead!

Why exactly/only 3 weeks? Aerobic fitness will really take longer than that.

Dont have any beer or wine.

Restrict your daily intake of calories to under 2000. Buy a pedometer and ensure you do 16,000 paces a day in addition to any more "usual" exercise.

More sex - very good for burning off calories.

Eat lots of fruit & salads.
Have no red meat, any meat you have ensure you cut off all the fat. Steam your veg.

Its not just getting bigger body parts thats important its equally important to be healthy on the inside.

What are you trying to achieve? There's a big difference between ebing in shape to run a 10k and being in shape to do 50 pressups for example.

What's the big target in 3 weeks?

'Tis true.

You won't acheive huge amounts in 3 weeks. Although you can make noticable gains.

Personally I'd get the trainers on and start trotting around the block, every other day.

Eat sensibly and cut back a bit, you should lose half a stone and look/feel better.

Beware of Yugguy though. He'll have you salsa dancing.

Why did the RX8 die?
You not been checking/topping up the oil?

What he said, what do you need to get ready for, stamina and some muscle growth pretty different - and also pretty challenging in 3 weeks

Strict diet - lower calories, less fat, less sugar, cut the rubbish out.
Exercise - aerobic in the main. Add some crunches and possibly some resistance training for arms and chest. I would try and burn at least 1000 calories 3 times a week.

I would suggest the following 'diet':-

Breakfast - Orange Juice and a slice of german bread with nothing on it (if you have to put some jam on but no butter). I would have a black coffee as well as I cant give that up!

Lunch - Water to drink plus a salad wrap with chicken. No mayo, no butter.

Supper - Wholewheat pasta and a tomatoe sauce. No cheese on it.
Or Chicken breast roasted with some veg and a small amount of sweet potatoe.

No white bread, no white rice, no potatoes...
No snacking.
If you need an occaisional treat then a few bits of 70& cocoa dark choc.
If you have to drink then try a low carb lager.
If you need an energy burst during aerobic exercise then have a banana.

All IMHO.

If you really want to just lose weight then the Atkins diet would possibly cut a few pounds in 3 weeks. Not sure I would recommend though.

In a related vanity vein, I have until February to make myself look better on the beach.

Current status:

Slim, no flab at all, slight definition on pecs but not really anywhere else. Legs are pretty decent, but I want those V line things. Already eat pretty healthily (except for at work where the canteen is limited to say the least).

(PS For those yet to work it out, I'm a MAN.)

Advice gratefully received.

"How long will that take?"

Thats depends how much effort you put in.

An hour on an exercise bike just plodding along is about 500. (I liked to read my books on the bikes some nights) The rowing machine on the other hand will burn it off waaay quicker. Knackering though!

Some great advice, thanks. In response to a few questions:

My RX8 died at the hands of a traffic sign. Totally killed the car. Now I have to decide on how to spend the cash.

I have three weeks as I have been challenged to do a special assult course and I took the challenge. Hence 3 weeks to get in a bit better shape. I need stamina and good arm strength but at the same time could do with loosing a bit of the wobbly stuff.

thanks people.

PS - Oh and ill up the sex life as well....yippeeee

Depends what you are doing - I can burn 1000 in an hour on a mountain bike in the summer with intense hill climbing.
Clearly with a busy life it might be hard to achieve 3 times a week.

It's amazing what a short stay in prison can do.

I'm surprised they gave you back the beer though.
